Precious Baby

My new niece, Grace Arlene Collette. Born January 20th, 2008. Isn't she gorgeous? She and Evie are going to be best buds. My sister Rose did so well with her delivery and she and Josh are going to make the best parents.

Haircut

For all our out-of-town family and friends who wanted to see...here is the new Melody. I haven't had bangs since the third grade so I'm still getting used to styling it. It feels so good to have short hair again- hooray! Hopefully you all like it, and if you don't, just pretend that you do :)

Dallin Update

Some of you already know how much he loves to cook. Dallin believes his main purpose in this life (besides getting a body, being baptized, etc.) is to become the next Emeril. He loves anything that has to do with kitchens, cooking, baking, mixing, stirring, measuring, or his favorite; mashing.

But here are some of his new hobbies:

Dallin has recently entered the world of pretend play. In Dallin's world, you wash your hands at least 10 times a day in the Little Tykes kitchen, always using soap and scrubbing for about 5 minutes. You also rub water in your hair, get your briefcase (a set of Elmo books), get in the car (Little Tykes coupe), lean through the window to give mom a kiss, and drive off to work. Oh, and of course he is now a doggy instead of a human being, and therefore he must eat regular meals and drink water out of doggy dishes on the kitchen floor. And wag his tail.

Besides pretending he's a dog, Dallin has also spent a lot more time with his sister Evie. For the first eight weeks after she was born, he pretty much ignored her. Now he plays with her, gives her kisses, and even asks to hold her on occasion. A common phrase heard around our house is "Oh, Hi baby Eef!" (those V's are hard to say).

If you're looking for a good double stroller...

...this one is better than good, it's FANTASTIC! I love it. It's the Joovy Caboose Ultralight (I got it for Christmas). I can put Evelyn in there in her car seat and Dallin stands in the back...OR, Dallin can sit facing me while Evelyn's in the front...OR, when Evie gets older I can take off the car seat attachment and have her sitting forward while Dallin either sits or stands...did I mention that it weighs 21 pounds and folds up smaller than my Graco travel system stroller? LOVE IT.
