Today (and pretty much this whole week) I have been a little stressed and tired because Evelyn has been crying constantly and waking up in the middle of the night again. But my Dallin never ceases to keep a smile on my face. Here is a conversation that we had today while Dallin was at the kitchen table:
I walk in the room visibly stressed about Evie.
Dallin: looks at me for about 5 seconds and says, "Hi!"
Me: (distracted) "Hi"
Dallin: (still looking right at me) "How are you?"
Me: "I'm good."
Dallin: (still looking) "Are you happy?"
Me: At this point I realize that he is really concerned about me so I smile and say "Yes, I'm happy" and give him a big hug.
Dallin: pats my back and with a huge grin says, "Hot mama!", which is something that his Dad taught him to say and that he knows will make me laugh :)
I thought it was sweet that he was trying so hard to cheer me up. Dallin is definitely the 'Rose' of our family. (When we were growing up my sister Rose was always asking my mom if she was happy or sad, and was always so sensitive to other people's feelings). I am so grateful for my children!

My sweet Dallin

Which Jane Austen heroine are you?
Tremendously attractive? I love this quiz!! (Thanks to Dayna for the idea- very fun!)
You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.

You're It
What were you doing 5 years ago?
Let’s see…five years ago I was recovering from cancer treatment (chemo and radiation) and declared ‘in remission’. I was also in the middle of winter semester at American River College, taking 15 credits. And I worked part time at Tricks.
5 things on my to-do list today:
1. do the dishes
2. balance the checkbook (and pay the bills!)
3. call my hair stylist
4. play “diggers” with Dallin (he likes to be the bulldozer, and me to be the digger)
5. visit my parents
5 snacks I enjoy:
1. fruit
2. peanut butter granola bars
3. chips and salsa
4. chocolate
5. tuna sandwiches
3 Bad Habits
1. procrastinating
2. slouching
3. taking 20 minute showers
If I were suddenly a billionaire...
First I would pay off our house. Then I would buy a sweet, fully loaded minivan and a couple of nice road bikes for Jason and I. Then I would invest a lot in mutual funds and some other investments, and give a lot away (family first).
5 Places I've lived.
1. Sacramento
2. Provo
3. that’s all
4.
5.
5 Jobs I've had:
1. gymnastics coach (Tricks)
2. receptionist
3. estimator’s assistant at an auto body shop
4. mother
5.
5 things people might not know about me:
1. I am obsessed with maps and geography.
2. I have 5 tattoos (okay so they’re just dots used to line me up on the radiation table thing, but they are blue and permanent so they still count).
3. I love the play Les Miserables and I like to sing the male solos in the shower.
4. I have really crazy toes and I can grasp large objects with them.
5. I rarely laugh out loud at jokes/movies/tv shows (I’m a silent laugher) but my most recent l.o.l. was at a preview for the movie Enchanted where James Marsden gets blasted by some cyclists.
I am tagging Jenilyn, Kris, Justin, and Lindsey

Finally!
My mom and I made this quilt for Evelyn right before she was born and I finally hung it up in her room. I sewed all the squares together and my mom did the border and binding, so I definitely had lots of help. I'm just happy that I finally made my first one!

Saturday morning chores
Dallin decided to help Dad mow the lawn this morning (even though he mowed it yesterday and the day before that :). I sure hope he continues to enjoy this 'hobby' as he gets older!

Sitting Up...
...but leaning slightly. Thank you cousin Wes for letting Evie borrow your chair, she is learning to sit up and she loves it! Also, she apparently didn't want me to take her picture today. I still caught some good ones though.
My kids look like they were doing something naughty and totally got caught.
